The Alter is a place to bring all the junk of life and lay it down.
The question for us all is when is the last time we were at the altar? When is the last time you poured out your heart full of concerns, the things we love, want, what hurts and things we wish we can go back and change?
We all have stuff in our life we are ashamed of and even scared to share with others.
God is waiting and willing to listen to our concerns, faults, failures, and even out victories. God is always waiting for us to enter into His presence and bring our sacrifices to the Alter.
The Alter is also a place for forgiveness and change. Most may not realize the Alter is also the starting place for revival in our lives. The dreams we once held dear, the pains of failures, the power to forgive others and to even forgive ourselves start at the Alter. We deal with the mess in our lives and we learn who God truly is at the Alter.

Excellent for church people. But for a vast majority of people, they don’t know what an altar is. Is it making a “god” out of the altar where people believe they can only come to the altar at the church building? I hope when you wrote this you weren’t thinking that. Remember the 2 criminals in between Jesus when they were on the cross? One of them began to mock Jesus, but the other said we deserve to be here, Jesus doesn’t. There was a real change in his soul concerning Jesus, & it was evident by what Jesus said next, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” No altar was required. 1 Peter 2:21 says, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, LEAVING YOU AN EXAMPLE, so that you might walk in His steps” (ESV).
I am not trying to get you down, rather open yourself up to the world of possibilities by simplifying the message of the Holy Bible to the world through internet blogs.~ http://www.TrueLifeChristianity.com

Think you for expanding on the post. Yes you are correct I was not thinking of only an Alter in Church but the Alter we should have in our hearts to bring our issues to God and one of the greatest issues is our need for Salvation. The Alter at church can be a great place to come get prayer or talk with God.
The Criminal on the cross received forgiveness for His past sins, Salvation. The old Testament the priest would sacrifice for forgiveness of sins but now we can ask for forgiveness Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for sins. Of course if we were to explain that all in detail it would be a long, long post.
Jesus was the once and for all sacrifice for the sins of the world. John 3:16 tells us, For God so Loved the Word that He gave His only begotton Son so that whomsoever would believe on Him would have everlasting life.
The four gospels Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are great to read about Jesus.
Just some more thoughts
I appreciate your post that is why we post things to get conversations started.

It should be the job for Christians not to make it more difficult for people who haven’t accepted God’s gift of life eternal to accept the financially free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. However, I preface this one thing before salvation-1 Peter 2:21 ” For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, LEAVING YOU AN EXAMPLE, so that you might walk in His steps” (ESV). Jesus Christ, up until His crucifixtion, had a tough life, and we are supposed to follow after Him. Great conversation again!
